The rest facility for foreign crew members in the Yanpu berthing area of Donggang Yanpu Fishing Port was completed and opened before the Lunar New Year.

In order to take care of the shore life of foreign crew members, the Fisheries Agency subsidized the Tung Kang Fishermen’s Association to set up a rest facility for foreign crew members in the Yanpu berthing area of Donggang Yanpu Fishing Port. The rest facility, opened on January 18th, lets the foreign crew members to use it under brand-new condition during the Lunar New Year Holidays, and expresses the government's kindness in taking care of the foreign crew members.
The rest facility is jointly opened by the Fisheries Agency, Pingtung County Government, Yanpu Inspection Office of the Coast Guard Administration, Tung Kang Fishermen’s Association, Stella Maris International Service Center and representatives of foreign crew members. We thank the foreign crew members for their dedication to Taiwan's fishery industry, and the foreign crew members also thank the government and all walks of life. On the eve of Lunar New Year Holidays, New Year's greetings were given to the foreign crew members, and citrus and local specialty swordfish floss were presented, wishing good luck and prosperity in the new year and may there be surplus year after year.
The Fisheries Agency explained that in order to take care of foreign crew members working in Taiwan, five shower rooms, one prayer room and one resting room were set up in the Yanpu berthing area near the mooring area of fishing boats for the convenience of foreign crew members. Hot water is provided free of charge in the rest facility, allowing foreign crew members to take a hot bath to warm their bodies and minds; the prayer room provides foreign crew members to perform religious prayer ceremonies, so that their bodies and minds can be stabilized and comforted. In the process of setting up the rest facility, we communicated with the foreign crew many times, and incorporated the opinions of the foreign crew to meet the needs. With the joint participation of the foreign crew members, we hope to jointly maintain the rest facility.
Lastly, the Fisheries Agency stated that in the future, it will continue to improve and pay attention to the welfare of foreign crew members, improve the recreational facilities for crew members around the fishing port, and provide foreign crew members for use during their stay in the port, so as to care for foreign crew members.

Fu-Sheng Liu, Director of Fisheries Agency, presented a gift box of Maogu tangerines to wish good luck and prosperity in the New Year.
Chairman Xiao Wenming of Tung Kang Fishermen’s Association presented the star product "Swordfish Floss" to wish the New Year with abundance year after year, and a safe and happy year to all the guests.
