Located in Fangliao Township, Ping Tung county, Da Zhuang fishing village is a fishing community which depends heavily on aquaculture, with 70% of the land of the entire community turned into ponds for fish farming. Standing at any corner of the village, one will always see the reflection of blue sky on the fish pond, the busy aerators ever peddling, and fish fighting to take the feed spraying from the feeding machines. From 5 or 6 o’clock in the morning, trucks are seen shuttling between ponds picking up fish for delivery to markets. As told by Zhun Hua Zhuang, Chairman of the Da Zhuang Community Development Association, the community farms more than 10 species of fish, mainly grouper, mullet and cobia.
