2014 World Ocean Day – Workshop on Experience Sharing on Safeguarding Marine Protected Areas

Activities are carried out in 3 workshops. Information is as follows:

1st Workshop:

Date: 5-6 June 2014 (Thursday and Friday)
Venue: Pingtung County (Liuqiu Management Station, Dapeng Bay Scenic Area Administration)
Experiencing Site: Snorkel Diving at Huapingshi

2nd Workshop:

Date: 3-4 September 2014 (Wednesday and Thursday)
Venue: Changhua County (Fisheries Experiencing Hall, 3rd Floor, Changhua District Fishermen’s Association)
Experiencing Site: Mud Shrimp Restoration Area

3rd Workshop

Date: 25-26 September 2014 (Thursday and Friday)
Venue: Taitung County (Bali Hotel, Taitung City)
Experiencing Site: Fushan Closed Fishing Area

Marine Protected Areas Website Prize Levy Quiz

Marine Protected Area (MPA) is internationally recognized as an important tool for protecting marine biodiversity and conserving fisheries resources. In response to the dedication of the 8th of June as the World Ocean Day, on the 2014 World Ocean Day, the Fisheries Agency took MPA as a theme, and held 3 workshops on “2014 World Ocean Day – Workshop on Experience Sharing on Safeguarding Marine Protected Areas”. At the same time, a prize levy quiz was given on the website (http://www.tfsda.org.tw/wod2014/quiz.php), inviting participation of the general public, and offering 15 citizens (with one companion) to attend the workshops free of charge, with the Fisheries Agency providing such fees as, ferry tickets, lodging, meals, fees for experiencing, insurance, information envelop, etc.

Date of Quiz: From 23 May 2015 to 29 May 2015

Awards:

1. Citizens who have given correct answers in the quiz, and won the lottery, their ferry tickets, lodging, meals, fees for experiencing, insurance, information envelop, etc. will be provided by the Fisheries Agency, Council of Agriculture, the Executive Yuan, under the relevant project.
2. Offering 5 citizens in each workshop, and each participant may bring along 1 companion.

Conditions:

1. Have completed the quiz within the timeframe of the quiz, and filled in the personal information (name and identity card number, for insurance coverage).
2. At the deadline of the quiz, lots will be drawn randomly by computer.
3. The result of the lottery will be notified in person to the winners.
4. In case a winner has not complied with the conditions set, his prize will be disqualified, and substituted by another winner in the order of the lots drawn by computer.

Matters to be Noted:

1. Participants must be over 18 years of age, and those under 18 have to be accompanied by parent.
2. In case of such natural factors as typhoon, and torrents, the organizer has the right to change the time and venue of the activity, and such change will be notified accordingly.
